Market Maker

Market Maker

Market making is the process whereby a broker-dealer provides continues two-way quotes to the market for the securities that they make markets on within the regulations and obligations set by the stock exchange. As a market maker, we are actively quoting across all market conditions and are indifferent to market direction.

We serve as an invisible hand of the market by providing liquidity and allowing for a better price discovery. Other key benefits of market makers include spread retention, lower volatility, enhancement of volume, and immediacy of dealing.

At Tharwa Investment Company, our obligation is to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and agreements entered with the client and the Exchange. We do so by maintaining a minimum presence in the order book of securities. We also adhere to the maximum bid/ask spreads per liquidity bucket defined. We ensure orders entered are of a minimum size as per agreement with the Exchange.
